Policy Makers
Familiarize yourself with the research around current education reform policies and practices.
Attend a screening of Race to Nowhere and participate in the community discussion that follows to learn what is important to your constituents.
Schedule time to visit with stakeholders in education.
Attend local school board meetings.
Develop an understanding of how to distinguish between good research vs. poor research (research that is done for the purpose of a promoting a special interest, position, product, propaganda, etc.).
Ensure that when public meetings and/or discussions, conferences, hearings, or other venues are being provided for collection and dissemination of information that teachers and students are invited to not only participate but be included as "decision-makers" and are invited to sit on the dais to provide input and feedback.
